I teach Yoga to brighten, lighten and inspire you to live to your fullest potential.
My name is Sara and I'm inspired by the vast teachings of Yoga, which makes me a Yoga Student and Teacher. I'm pretty nerdy and you will often find me with a notebook in hand, scribbling plans, or inspiring pieces for class & life.
I find Yoga and its philosophy pretty damn cool. I love to break down and get into many of the teachings so you can put them to practical use; driving the car, cooking dinner, watching Grace & Frankie lately, anything rally that you can use off the mat that helps you live a skilled life!
I remember my first Yoga class. A friend asked me to join her for a Yoga class at an Ashtanga school called North Sydney Yoga. We changed out of our corporate wear and wandered down after work and I did my first Yoga class, it was a pretty vigorous physical class but a defining moment!!!!
Fast forward an hour and a half, when I walked out of that studio, wowzers, I felt so different. There was a shift in me, I was calm, breathing steady, I tell all my friends "I felt like a shirt that had all the creases ironed out". Now I know this to be a sense of physical, mental and heartfelt alignment.
That was about 20 years ago. Since then I’ve enjoyed many different styles of Yoga from Ashtanga Yoga, Bikram Yoga, Power Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, and finally settled in my beloved Hatha Yoga. How could I possibly resist it with all its philosophy and helpful tips for living in the world!
After many fun but stressful years in the corporate world, I decided to embark upon a 1 year, 350 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Diploma in 2010 at Qi Yoga. It was a wonderful challenging year, full of aha moments, of learning new things, learning a new language (Sanskrit), facing many challenges, and in December that year I graduated. Woohooo!
I love, teach and practice Yoga because I believe in it. It really does relieve tension, it lets the good energy circulate (prana), it calms and evens out the breath, which enables us slow down, be more focused and centred = Harmony. Hands up who doesn't want that!
Here are some of the things that you can expect in my classes:
~ Movement, breath awareness, and or control (pranayama)
~ Meditation, learning to sit and connect with your true shiny being
~ Mantra, its important what words we constantly repeat to ourselves
~ Essential Oils, Tea, and lately chocolate and Altar Cards
~ Laughter & story creating community one breath at a time.
Happy Holy Oms.
