My name is Sara and I'm inspired by the practices of Yoga, which makes me always a Student and a Teacher. You will often find me with a notebook in hand, scribbling plans, or finding inspiring pieces for class & life.
My first class was an Ashtanga class at North Sydney Yoga. I was working at Revlon as a Marketing Assistant and a colleague of mine asked me to join her after work one day. This day changed the trajectory of my life for sure!
We changed out of corporate gear into our stretchy stuff, and joined in a "general" class (hmmm, wasn't quite ready for that!). After a full hour and a half I too was full. I remember standing on Blues Point Road, and thinking wow, I feel so good. How is this possible? Little did I know that Yoga is also subtle and those parts of me that were tightly wound and ungrounded were released and settled. I told my friends after that class, "I felt like a shirt that had all the creases ironed out".
That class was just over 20 years ago. Since then I’ve enjoyed many different styles of Yoga from Ashtanga Yoga, Bikram Yoga, Power Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga. In 2010 I took the plunge and embarked on a 1 year 350 Hatha Yoga Teacher Training. It was a wonderful challenging year, full of aha moments, of learning new things, learning a new language (Sanskrit), facing many challenges, and in December that year I graduated. What a great day that was!
When you come to my class, you'll receive a varying recipe of movement, meditation, poetry, pranayama and lately sweet beloved singing bowls.
Yoga has so much to teach us. How we show up on the mat is how we show up in life afterall.
