I believe, really, truly and deeply that Yoga can help you shine. Bright.
How? Why? Isn't Yoga about meditating, and quietening down the mental chatter. Isn't it serious? About Sanskrit and chanting? And of course, Nag Champa Incense?
Well, yes to all of the above.
However, after many years of teaching and practising Yoga I believe that it has many tools and tricks for us to shine bright. To clear the lens through which we see life, to recognise and be able to clear or learn from obstacles that are presented to us on our path.
When I read, study, contemplate, meditate, sit, breathe, do Pranayama, Asana, I feel so shiny and sparkly.
The flow. The way home. True North. The Soul. The heart.
There are so many words to describe the way home to our soul, to our dreams, our dharma, our purpose. For a pretty long time I've been really into this, reading about it, writing lists of wishes, experimenting, cutting out pictures, and it sort of goes on. I still have the list I wrote when I was 21!
However, I digress.
During the school holidays I took my kids to a great place in the inner city called Sky Zone. Really cool place where kids bounce on trampolines, some are bouncing off trampolines that line the walls. So, there I was, sitting with mostly other mum's taking a breath, reading food mags, and flicking through our social media accounts. Quite funny really.
Anyway, I remembered that I was in Alexandria. And in Alexandria is a very cool cafe, that I follow on Instagram. So I scrolled through my account and found that they were... wait for it... 5 minutes away from where I was. Yes! Boom. I'm now super excited.
Luckily my kids were high on adrenalin and were happy to come with me.
So after the hour of bouncing finished, we jumped into my car and found this AMAZING space. I found my cafe, and it was located in the coolest space. Its an arcade, with awesome foods in it. It has a coffee roaster at the entry, my cool (yes "my"!) cafe next, then a chocolatier next. It really couldn't get any better, but wait... it did.
The chocolatier, called Pana Chocolate had a wall that I will call THE WALL OF POSITIVITY. There's a picture above, its literally a wall of positive sayings. Well, I was SOOOO excited! I felt so lit up, I felt home, I wanted to just sleep under them and soak it all up.... well the chocolate too was certainly a big incentive.
So, in the midst of all this school holiday commotion and busyness I found inspiration. Really juicy stuff that has done something to me. I'm IN-SPIRED, literally from the inside I'm all lit up. I've had so many thoughts coming to me, ideas, inspirations, insights, notice lots of these words start with in. In because the juicy stuff, the nectar comes from within you. Our hearts wishes, our dreams, are already within us. Waiting for the moment to start to grow. So, write lists, go visit places that inspire you, listen to great music, go on beautiful walks. Go, do it!
Now if you've read this far, and your still here, the name of the cafe is called Bread and Circus. Whilst it doesnt have the positivity wall it looks like it has beautiful, healthy, nourishing food. And the cafe at the front is called Campos Coffee. And the address of all this beautiful goodness is 21 Fountain Street, Alexandria.
Once school goes back I'm there for a full meal!
