The truth is not simple.
It takes work to plough through our own internal BS. And its multilayered, like a good Tiramasu, like our Koshas (the layers of our being). But once you get there, once you practice feeling truth it becomes so compelling and it feels so good, that you'll probably want more.
And then what happens is that what isn't truth starts to stand out. All the little lies we tell ourselves, all the way's we rearrange things so we don't need to be truthful, they begin to feel icky and uncomfortable. And the truth starts to become the nice place to hang out, and the rest begins to feel noticeably awkward and stands out.
The Yogi's were onto this.
Truth, Satya in Sanskrit, is one of the 10 anchors or ways of being the in the world that the Yogi's recommended on the path to Yoga. But Truth comes after Kindness, for a very good reason. Let Kindness be the precursor to truth telling, truth feeling, its King for a good reason.
Find a Yoga pose that feels true for you. It might be sitting, it might be lying down. Find yourself in it, in a way that feels good and find where truth lies in your body, where do you "Feel" truth the most, for some its the gut, others the heart, you might get it in a "sense". Start to find it and make contact.
This is a lifetime practice. It takes time.
Last night 15 students gathered for my little workshop, Be True Be You.
The idea of this came to me after some deep study and good soul work. You know the kind right! And so I decided that the best thing would be to combine my love of Yin Yoga, Mantra and The Moon. Its cool how these all come together, they marry up for a sweet love affair of introspection, quiet and calm.
So, the main idea of this class to remind us all that all we have are ourselves. Everyone else is already taken right? But I often feel and see that our modern life pulls us away from our authenticity, or as Stephen Cope calls it "our idiosyncratic self". I believe that we are all part of an important web, the web that makes up this life, and that its our duty and our right to live our life as close to the heart of our authenticity as possible. "Even a little practice of this dharma will save you". Even a little stepping toward being more authentic, more you, will save you. How? Because when we chip away at our own authenticity by saying yes when we mean no, by choosing another's path because it "looks" better than ours, all of this errodes our sense of happiness and trust in ourselves that we are enough, and we begin to feel inauthentic, sad, down, split, and I believe this affects our self esteem, our sense of worth in our community.
But if we unearth our gifts, and our talents and weave them into our day, well I believe that may be a little path toward happiness. There's a sense of truth and that brings freedom with it. I love Carrie Ann-Moss's words "I want a life as true as the Moon". This! This just lights me up. For a long time I've loved the moon, even my kids love the moon. There's something so true, so sacred about it and it just fills up my heart. I dont need to put it into words, I don't need to find exactly what it is about the moon that makes me so happy to see it, it just is.
So make it sacred,
Make it true,
Make it beautiful,
Let it be You.
I am so excited!
I worked out I've taught over 1,000 general Yoga classes, since I graduated my Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in 2010. From gyms, to studios, from backyards to beaches, there I am with Yoga!
The learning that I have done with my beloved teachers has given me so much love for Yoga, that I feel I'm ready to pass it on, in my own unique way. As many of you know I do love my coffee.. and my yoga. So many ideas come to me, when I pause, with a coffee, pen and notebook. It seems like a simple recipe for "downloading".
Out of that combination, sprung The Coffee Sessions. My intention is for this to be a fun way to dive into us, working together to build a great yoga practice for you. One that you could do at home, or on holidays, or just out and about. And one of the best things about a Yoga practice is that there's so many great paths to Yoga! We will determine where your interest lies, what you'd like to dive into, and at the end of our session I will go away with this information and formulate a practice for you, designed by me, with what LIGHTS you UP, practices that INSPIRE you, that ANCHOR you! That you will WANT TO DO!
So I'm making forms, and getting very clear on our process.
Be in touch soon!
